Scaredy Cat Bingo Update: Werewolves, Wizards, and Butlers

I’m making some progress on my book bingo board. Check it out!

My recent reads include:

The Wizard’s Butler by Nathan Lowell

The Wizard's Butler

I loved this one. I always enjoy stories that shine the spotlight on a character archetype that’s usually in the background: in this case, a butler. Not that the main character started out as a butler. He just needed a job and didn’t realize the eccentric old rich guy claiming to be a wizard was actually a wizard. 😉

This one goes on the “Oh The Humanity” space because the main villain are a couple of regular greedy humans trying to get their elderly uncle (the wizard) sent to a care home so they can get their hands on his property.

Cursed Wolf by Brogan Thomas

This book read like a work of fanfiction for me–and as someone who loves fanfiction, I mean that as a high compliment. It was an emotional roller coaster with a heroine I strongly rooted for and villains I totally despised. I blew through it in one day, having trouble putting it down.

It fills the “Howl At The Moon” spot for obvious reasons.

Blood & Ash by Deborah Wilde

This is a classic-style urban fantasy novel with a snarky, first-person protagonist investigating a supernatural mystery. The world-building was interesting, and I enjoyed all the Sherlock Holmes references. Plus, the detective heroine and her hacker partner are a fun duo.

I’m putting it on the “Bloody Good” spot because of the red cover and the fact that the heroine has blood-based magic.

So that’s my board at the moment. I’m hoping to get a bingo by next week. If you’re doing Scaredy Cat Bingo or another reading challenge, let me know how it’s going in the comments.
